Type One Warrior is about the highs and lows of raising little people with Type 1 Diabetes. Our ultimate mission will be to provide families who have a newly diagnosed Type One Diabetic child with resources that will make the transition easier.
Our son Harrison was diagnosed in October 2016, a few short weeks before his first birthday. He is our type one warrior. With his diagnosis we came to find that information and resources is sorely lacking for parents who have children who’ve been diagnosed with this chronic disease. We have learned, and still learn, so much everyday. In a way, this blog was a way for us to cement what we learned - but also a platform where we hope to help families in a similar situation.
We have teamed up with an amazing dietitian, Megan Dimitriades, who has many years experience working in the field of Type One Diabetes, especially in paediatrics. Megan has joined the Type One Warrior team to bring some much needed insight into navigating nutrition in the Type 1 Diabetic and Paediatric context. We respect her wealth of experience in this field and it seemed like a natural and easy fit to bring her under the Type One Warrior fold. We sincerely hope that her contribution to our efforts will be beneficial to many Type One Warrior families out there.
